SARR will also operate a new MAPS program in 2012 at Cowee Mound in Macon County, NC, sponsored in part by the Cherokee Preservation Foundation.
MAPS is a volunteer program that includes many duties such as setting up nets, picking and banding birds, birding surveys, vegetation surveys, paperwork and data management. Data samples are taken once every ten days during late spring and summer. See the calendar below for our 2012 MAPS schedule. The MAPS banding day is from sunrise to ~noon (6 hrs). If you are interested in joining us for any of the MAPS sessions, please email us. Volunteers and visitors are welcome to attend and contribute in any way possible, no matter their experience level. Please check the website.
