Fabric Printing Workshop

When: December 4, 2025 @ 5:30 pm

Customize your linens or breathe new life into your stained/torn garments!

Join Topher Stevens and Kayla Watson of Wild Remembering for this crafty, 3 hour workshop to learn the basics of block printing on fabric. Spend a joyful evening creating and connecting with a fun and positive community, and go home with a beautiful cloth patch, a patterned bandana, or a fresh design on a beloved piece of clothing.

We’ll begin by choosing a simple design to carve, then will learn the technique of relief carving using special gouges and soft rubber blocks. This is an easy and satisfying process, and no previous linocut experience is required. After our designs have been carved, we’ll ink up our blocks and experience the magic of transferring the designs onto fabric. Don’t worry, we’ll do some test prints to hone and perfect the design and process before printing on your favorite T-shirt.

Class fee is $30, and all necessary materials are provided including rubber blocks, carving tools, inks, and scraps of fabric for printing patches. Participants are also encouraged to bring their own bandanas, shirts, or other pieces of  personal linens or clothing to print on.

Participants should ideally bring a copy of a design from home or have some idea of what they’d like to create before arriving- our time is limited! Ensure your design is simple so you finish carving with enough time to print. We strongly suggest wearing either a smock or clothing you don’t mind getting paint on; indeed, printing with permanent fabric ink might create permanent ink-stains on your clothing!

We will meet at Wildkitchen Supply (567 W Main St) in downtown Sylva just before 5:30 on Thursday, December 4th. Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early to park and get settled, the class starts sharply at 5:30pm. This workshop will run until 8:30pm. Feel free to bring snacks and/or dinner- we will not take a formal dinner break but folks can pause for sustenance as needed.

This class is intended for ages 12 and up. Please leave pets at home. No experience or artistic ability necessary!

Space is limited; click here to head to our ticket purchase page and secure your spot.
