The field trip portion of a two-part workshop
This field trip is the in-person session following an education webinar on the identification and management of invasive plants. Participation in the webinar is not required to attend this event, but attending both sessions will provide a more thorough learning experience. This guided walk at Tessentee Bottomland Preserve in Franklin will give participants the opportunity to see, smell, and touch the invasive plants that have been covered in the webinar, as well as have the opportunity to practice their ID skills. We will also demonstrate a few hands-on management techniques. Click here to register for the webinar portion.
We’ll meet in the parking lot of Tessentee Bottomland Preserve in Franklin just before 9:00 on Saturday, June 12th. See the map below for exact location. The walk will take about two hours, and is over surfaces of varying grades, widths, and substrates. Trails at Tessentee are rated as easy or easy-moderate, but are natural surface paths that involve stepping over roots and rocks. We will walk between 1-2 miles during the event. We suggest bringing water, a snack, sturdy hiking shoes, and any tools you may want such as a notebook or work gloves.
This event is free and open to the public, and is weather-dependent. Please leave pets at home. Email Alina at [email protected] with any questions.
