Let’s learn about our bird neighbors!

Young birders are invited to the Hudson Library (554 Main Street, Highlands, NC 28741) to discover the stories of our local birds! Spring is on our doorstep, and the birds that left for the winter will return to our forests soon. During this children’s program, we’ll learn the names and songs of a few of our common local birds, plus fun facts that will help you recognize them out in nature. We will focus on exploring all the different kinds of birds that call our mountains home, from sparrows to eagles, herons to warblers!

This event will occur from 3:30pm-5:00pm on Thursday, March 12th. For the majority of the event, Outreach Director Skye will guide beginner birders through a slideshow expedition filled with plenty of pictures of the birds that live alongside us. After the presentation, attendees will be invited to practice with provided binoculars. Depending on the group size and the weather, we may have an opportunity to experiment with our binoculars outside.

This program is free and open to the public, and no registration is required. This event is geared towards children 5-12 years old, but we welcome attendees of all ages! Email Skye ([email protected]) with any questions.
