Explore our newest preserve with Adam Bigelow!
Onion Mountain Preserve, gifted to Mainspring in 2021, provides a different experience than our other properties. With a peak at 3,480 feet and a winding network of steeper forested trails, Onion Mountain offers an opportunity to get your blood pumping while admiring a variety of woodland plants! This preserve protects, among other creatures, a significant patch of American Columbo, which is a somewhat uncommon and peculiar plant. Join Mainspring and Adam Bigelow of Bigelow’s Botanical Excursions to learn about the natural beauty and biodiversity of this new preserve!
This 1-2 mile hike should take 3-4 hours (including driving time) and is along trails woods roads that are mostly even but moderately steep. Since there is limited parking at Onion Mountain Preserve, we will meet at the Mainspring Conservation Trust office (557 East Main Street) in Franklin at 10:30 on Sunday, April 30th and carpool to the preserve together (~15 minutes.) Please email Skye with any questions.
Tickets for this hike are $25. Please purchase your ticket here (will take you to our ticket event page)
