Learn about the edible and medicinal properties of the plants that live alongside us.

Cara-Lee Langston, founder of Wildcraft Kitchen, will share her extensive knowledge on foraging and herbal medicine during this event. This 1-2 hour gentle walk will take us through the diversity of habitats found at Tessentee Bottomland Preserve, where we will meet and learn about any edible plants we encounter along the way. We will discuss plant identification, cooking methods, foraging ethics, and medicinal preparations, leaving time to admire the non-edible plants as well!

Tessentee Bottomland Preserve features a variety of natural surface paths, from wide and flat to narrow and somewhat steep. This walk will be moderate difficulty, with stairs and a few steep inclines along the route. We will meet in the parking lot of Tessentee Bottomland Preserve (2249 Hickory Knoll Road, Franklin, NC 28734) in Franklin just before 10am on Friday, May 5th. Please note that we will not be harvesting any plants during this walk, and foraging on Mainspring Conservation Trust properties is by permission only.

This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Please fill out the form below to register, then grab your notebook and prepare for a fun morning of learning about the edible biodiversity that can be found here in the Little Tennessee River Valley! Email Skye with any questions.
