Winter Seed Starting Buffet

Stop by our office to sow free native seeds!

Are you already dreaming of April showers and spring flowers? December is the perfect time to plant native seeds in preparation for next year! Many native seeds require a period of cold weather in order to sprout, and once planted can be left outside with little to no special care.

Drop into our office at 557 East Main Street, Franklin anytime between 3:00pm-6:30pm on Wednesday, December 11th to sow a selection of native seeds from our “Seed Buffet!” Bring your own soil and pot or other container- clean, transparent milk jugs, spinach/greens box containers, and 2 liter bottles work great for native seed starting. Conservation Outreach Director Skye can provide guidance on which seeds will work best for you and your property, and how to sow them for best results. Keep in mind that some native plants do not flower in their first year, and many of these plants will be happier if eventually planted in the ground.

Registration is not required to attend this event, but feel free to fill out the form at the bottom of the page to receive a reminder email leading up to this event. The seeds listed below will be available for free while supplies last, limit of 3 seed types per person. Email Skye at [email protected] with any questions.
