FIND FRIENDSHIP AND FULFILLMENT WHILE HELPING THE EARTH

Our Stewardship Workdays are a fun opportunity to make friends and challenge your muscles while enjoying WNC’s beautiful scenery. Whether it’s building bridges and maintaining trails on one of our preserves or removing invasive species and planting trees on an easement property, volunteering with Mainspring will give you a chance to explore, protect, and restore the well-known spots and hidden gems of this region. There are opportunities to use all sorts of fun tools, from chainsaws to sledgehammers to good old fashioned elbow grease!
For this special Saturday workday, we’ll be at Tessentee Bottomland Preserve in Franklin to repair a spur trail at the confluence of the Little Tennessee River and Tessentee Creek. This is a popular spot for viewing or accessing the water, and consistent use has caused the area to erode. During this workday, we will be installing pavers that will control erosion while maintaining water access, so we can continue enjoying the river while reducing our impact on aquatic habitat and water quality! This workday will run from 10:00am-3:00pm, and lunch will be provided.
Location and duties vary per workday. To receive regular emails about the details of upcoming workdays, please fill out our volunteer form.
Want to help protect the special places we know and love, but aren’t sure you’re up for digging in the dirt? We have indoor, low-exertion volunteer opportunities too! Check them out here.
