A lifelong resident of western North Carolina and a Tribal citizen of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, Jeremy Hyatt brings more than 15 years of leadership experience in government, natural resources, and cultural preservation to his role as Mainspring’s Executive Director. Most recently, he served as Secretary of Operations for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, overseeing 17 programs, 400 employees, and an $80 million budget. His leadership advanced major community projects, including the Fire Mountain Trails and Fire Mountain Disc Golf Sanctuary.
Jeremy’s deep roots in the region inspire his approach to conservation. “I consider myself of this place,” he says, “so it’s incredible to work with an organization that affirms our shared responsibility for stewarding our environment, cultural heritage, and community.”
An avid mountain biker, Jeremy lives with his wife in Cullowhee and the two of them enjoy traveling the world together.
